Trained at Northwestern University¡¯s highly prestigious acting program, Michelle Lang brings the industry a combination of the likeability of Meg Ryan, versatility of Cate Blanchett, and the athleticism of Cameron Diaz. She is athletic, fiercely independent, with both a comedic and dramatic innocence.
Spending part of her youth in England, Michelle learned at a young age to respect authority and discipline. Her disciplined nature in combination with a creative mind lead her straight into the theatre where, at the age of 18, she had already acted in over 30 shows. Roles ranged from the comedic Peggy in Neil Simon¡¯s ¡°Come Blow Your Horn¡± to the intense but delightful Nurse in ¡°Romeo and Juliet¡±. She also wrote and directed her own touring drama troupe. ¡°Shakespeare, Live!¡±.
Upon attending Northwestern University, Michelle studied roles from the great playwrights including Antigone in Sophocle¡¯s Antigone, Helena in Chekhov¡¯s Uncle Vanya, Katherine in Shakespeare¡¯s Taming of the Shrew , Helena in MidSummer¡¯s Night Dream, Ruth in Pinter¡¯s The Homecoming, Shelly in Sam Shepard¡¯s Buried Child, and Amanda in Noel Coward¡¯s Private Lives. (Among others) She studied and continues to use various techniques from Stanislavky, Meisner, Michael Chekhov, and Strasberg. She also uses tools such as animal work, metaphor work, and emotional waves. Michelle graduated Northwestern University in 2004 with a BS in Acting with a concentration in business.
Michelle has lived in Los Angeles since 2005 and got her Taft Hartley in Date Movie playing a quirky bachelorette her first year here. She has acted in over 15 independent shorts, starred in 3 independent features, and had roles in Reno:911 The Movie, Epic Movie, and a soon to be released paramount Sci Fi film directed by JJ Abrams.
In 2007 Michelle was training at the National Wushu center with coach Eric Chen when she landed the lead female role, Linda Lee, in a 50 Episode TV series called, ¡°The Legend of Bruce Lee¡±. Michelle spent four months shooting over 30 episodes in China, Hong Kong, Macaw, and various locations in the US. The television series is set to air in China leading up to the 2008 Olympics. Other LA actors who also worked on the series include Ray Park, Michael Jai White, Mark Dacascos, and Gary Daniels.
Now back from China, Michelle is playing one of the last female survivors in an independent feature film Downstream and plans to return to China for 3 weeks in late July to guest star in one of China¡¯s top comedy shows and do publicity for ¡°The Legend of Bruce Lee¡±.
